In large locations with multiple sites which all need to be connected, a secure and reliable wireless network is key to keeping day-to-day operations up and running. On sites like these you’ll often need a network which can be used by customers, employees, and security teams alike, so it’s important to have the correct set-up for these busy environments.
A reliable wireless network is key for locations which cover a large area, especially ones which see hundreds or even thousands of visitors each day, for example entertainment venues such as stadiums and arenas. When choosing and installing wireless networks and CCTV equipment in large locations it isn’t just size that should be considered. Both operational and visitor requirements must be taken into account to ensure that the wireless network is secure and reliable enough to allow efficient communication that meets everyone’s needs.
When choosing and installing a wireless network across a large location or venue, there are a number of considerations. Safety comes first, and reliable, efficient wireless and CCTV networks are vital to ensure a safe environment for staff and guests alike. But strong, fast Wi-Fi is also important for enhancing guest experiences and improving connectivity for vendor’s transactional needs across the location where applicable.
In large, busy locations where wireless networks are required to work hard to keep operations running smoothly and visitors constantly connected, SilverNet recommends our IWS (Intelligent Wi-Fi Solution) along with our Series 7 Network switches and SFPs. Being able to bring fibre to a location then cable out to APs’ which are powered by PoE make a simplified system that is very easy to install. Additionally, having a centralised controller means that configuration and management of multiple devices is a breeze.
Multi-site locations have varied and sometimes complicated connectivity needs – their wireless infrastructure is depended on to cover multiple areas across large premises and as such must be flexible, reliable and secure.
A wireless network in a location like this, for example a visitor attraction such as a theme park or large museum/exhibit, is used for many different purposes by many different people. In each location the connection should be strong and secure. It is vital that it is reliable around the clock, and ideally it should be easily monitored and controlled from one place via a Network Management Software (NMS).
SilverNet has previous experience in providing a reliable and efficient wireless security system, complete with our own NMS, SilverView, for one of Birmingham’s largest multi-site visitor attractions, and so we understand the challenges and needs that come with an infrastructure of this type.
For locations such as these we recommend our PRO range for the wireless transmission, and our Series 7 Managed switches which are able to operate with multicast video and IPv6 traffic. As well as being able to monitor all of the traffic through the network from security device to control room, if there is a system fault the NMS SilverView allows simpler fault tracing to keep downtime to a minimum and the customer happy.
